Vilka regler gäller för att köra lätta elfordon i Sverige?

What rules apply to driving light electric vehicles in Sweden?

Driving light electric vehicles, like our electric mopeds and walking scooters, is a convenient and sustainable way to get around in Sweden. But it's important to be aware of the rules that apply to driving safely and legally.

Driving license requirements and age limits

The rules regarding driving licenses and age limits depend on the type of electric vehicle you choose to drive. For our class 1 electric mopeds you need an AM driving license, which can be obtained from the age of 15, this also applies to our electric moped cars.

But if you already have a B-license for a car, you can drive an electric moped without needing a separate license. This also applies to electric moped cars.

For our electric mopeds and class 2 electric moped cars, a driver's license is sufficient if you were born after 1996. Our walking scooters , which many of our customers appreciate for their accessibility, do not require a driver's license at all. This makes them an easily accessible option for everyone, regardless of age or previous driving experience.

Where can you drive?

Where you are allowed to drive our light electric vehicles varies depending on which model you choose. Our class 1 electric mopeds and class 1 and class 2 electric moped cars, which can reach higher speeds, must be driven on regular roads and may not be used on cycle paths.

However, our class 2 electric mopeds and walking scooters are allowed to drive on cycle paths, making them a flexible option for both urban and rural areas.

Walking scooters can also be driven on walkways, sidewalks and inside shops, as long as you adjust your speed to the surroundings and always show consideration for others.

Safety equipment

At Eloped, we care about your safety. There are no legal requirements for helmets for our walking scooters, but we always recommend that you wear a helmet if you are riding on roads or in traffic. For mopeds, a helmet is required.

Regardless of which vehicle you choose, it is important to make sure that the scooter has working brakes, lights, reflectors and a signaling device, especially when riding at night. This way you are clearly visible and can drive safely, both for your own safety and that of others.
