Is an electric moped right for you? Guide to advantages, disadvantages and the right choice

Are you thinking about buying an electric moped but unsure if it's the right choice for you? Electric vehicles are becoming increasingly common in urban and rural areas, and the electric moped is a smart cross between a bicycle and a car. Here we go over who it's suitable for. What advantages it has and what you should consider before you decide.

An electric moped is perfect for shorter trips

Our Elmopeds are designed for everyday trips, to work, school, the gym or the store. They are fast enough for city traffic but small enough to park almost anywhere. Perfect for shorter distances as it reduces both costs and environmental impact.

Advantages of choosing an electric moped

  • Quiet and smooth - Perfect for urban environments.
  • Environmentally friendly alternative - No emissions.
  • Easy to charge at home - Only requires a power outlet.
  • Accessible to everyone - From youth, commuters and seniors.
  • Low operating costs - No gasoline, fewer moving parts and minimal maintenance.

Disadvantages of choosing an electric moped

  • Limited range - Shorter range than petrol-powered alternatives, but more than enough for everyday trips, errands and commuting.
  • Charging time - It takes longer to charge than to fill up with gas, but the advantage is that you can easily charge at home in a regular electrical outlet.
  • Weather & temperatures - Cold can affect the battery, but Eloped's electric mopeds are built for Nordic climates and can handle everyday driving all year round.

Electric moped class 1 or class 2 - what's the difference?

At Eloped you will find two models

  • Class 2 goes up to 25km/h which can be driven on a cycle path and does not require a driver's license if you were born before October 1, 1994, does not need to be registered and does not require a license plate.
